I've been wanting to go on adventures, get out of the house and explore and take photographs but it hasn't happened very much.

A few weeks ago Jason, Kieran and I discovered an area of claremont/dalkeith that we hadn't explored before. It reminds me of a place I used to go as a young child, and it very well could be the very same, though I'm not sure.

Here are a few snaps from the day

I'm hoping for a lot more adventures this summer, hopefully including a road trip down south!

A girl can wish x

A few things that I'd absolutely love to own:

If I was richer

This Acne dress is absolutely gorgeous and I'd team it with a pair of stockings and these Jeffrey Campbell Litas in maroon suede as well as wearing my favourite Mac Matte lipstick Russian Red.

Out of all these products though, the two things I would absolutely swoon over is the black quilted Chanel bag which I have wanted since I was a very young girl. It is the epitome of class in my eyes and one day I am determined to be able to afford one.

And that stunning ring. This is what I've always envisaged wearing on that special finger. Something like that would make my heart melt to pieces when the time comes. Whenever that be.

Well, that was an adventure and a half and now I feel slightly deflated because I don't actually own these and I certainly can't afford them.

What things would you buy if you had no budget?

Christmas Spirit and Baking!

I've been getting in the Christmas spirit today by doing some baking for my dads side of the family as we're having our christmas gathering early! And I've been listening to Christmas Carols all morning!

I'm baking a White Chocolate Baked Cheesecake using the best recipe I've ever used and I thought whilst it is in the oven I would blog about it!

Everything on the site I'm about to link is pretty much perfect and every single recipe of theirs that I've used has turned out brilliantly. Their blog is called Exclusively Food and you can find the recipe for the cheesecake here http://www.exclusivelyfood.com.au/2006/07/baked-white-chocolate-cheesecake.html  and i recommend giving all their recipes a browse and start using them.

I've made the cheesecake quite a few times in the past and it's always been a hit with anyone who's tried it.

This is how the last one I made turned out and i topped it off with a homemade strawberry coulis sauce

What is your favourite dessert to make?

Beach wear!

All the way back in April I went to a few shows at the Perth Fashion Festival and took some snaps of the spring/summer bathing suits! I haven't posted them on here before so I though I would just post a few of my favourites here for all to see.

Models below are wearing Swimsuits designed by Bikini Atoll

Jason and I are happy to have our media passes! (although, I suspect some of Jasons excitement comes from getting to see lots of pretty ladies in bikini's)

Models above are wearing Swimwear by Gypsea

Do you have a favourite? I personally wish I had the purple dress with the lightening or the swimsuit in the same design! Hope you enjoyed this post.

♡ Flowers ♡

Now that the weather has turned so sunny and so fresh I've been loving having flowers around!

I get quite bad hayfever so flowers are always a bit of a pickle, so when we get given flowers it can be a bit of a toss up between being pretty and being pretty allergic! We were given gorgeous ones the other day and I took a pic, along with those is a picture of the new vase I got from Ikea with some fake flowers in it, and a picture of me holding a flower as well!

Do you have a favourite flower? What do you think of fake flowers? I was never much of a fan, but I think because I can't always have flowers around they're a cute thing to have just to brighten the plave up a little bit.

♡ What I'm wearing on my face ♡

On Saturday it was the first day of the Royal Show.

Jason and I were going to take his brothers in the afternoon and stay late to see the fireworks. Unfortunately I had come down with a cold a few days before hand and so I wasn't feeling so crash hot. SO I did what I do when I'm not feeling to well or feeling a little bit down is had some fun with my makeup.

This is what I was wearing on my face :

Chanel Primer / Savior Faire Concealer / Estee Lauder Cheeks pallete / Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation / Estee Lauder Lipstick / Maybelline Line Stiletto eyeliner / Bloom Eyeshadow Duo / Nyx loose pigment in pearl / Australis Finishing Powder.

Gold eye brushes are Estee Lauder / Small Angled Brush is MAC / Foundation brush is Bobbi Brown / Eyebrow brush is Eco Tools and the angled blush/face brush is unknown.

I felt a lot better once I'd done my makeup, and thought I'd share some of the products that I'd used. I'm really loving the wake me up foundation at the moment although the colour is just slightly too dark for me (and it's the lightest one!) but will be perfect once i've been in the sun for a little bit now that it's getting warmer.

♡ Summer Dress Styling ♡

Summer Dress Styling

I have just joined Polyvore today and have really enjoyed fiddling around with it. I decided to create a post focusing on one of my favourite Summer Essentials - Maxi Dresses.

Here I have shown how to style one for the evening (Left outfit), for the beach (Middle outfit) and for a day to day outfit for perhaps a lunch date or a day out shopping.

Starting with the evening dress we have a simple deep blue maxi, it just drops to the floor there's nothing outrageous about it so it's very simple, very elegant and can be dressed up as seen above. To do so I've matched the simple deep blue with hues of gold. We've got the gold shoes with a small heel, there's a gold belt, I've picked out this simple gold bracelet and a lovely gold necklace. I'm loving this style of necklace at the moment, and when wearing a maxi dress that's cut off as the one above you'll often find yourself needing something extra around the neck. And this necklace is just that.

Moving on we've got out beach outfit. Here we have a bright orange dress. Again, very simple but the colour gives such a pop that you don't need to over do it with loads of patterns. With the dress I've paired it with some simple silver sandals, which if you're wearing to the beach you can easily take off to feel your feet in the sand! I've picked, continuing on with the orange and silver theme, this gorgeous leaf bracelet. I've done so because the beach is such a natural place to be, it's the natural environment, so it's nice to have a reflection of that on your clothing. And because we didn't go for a floral dress the accessories can represent that. Then we have the most important aspect of the outfit-  a big floppy sun hat! Don't underestimate the need for one of these in the warmer weather. You don't want to get your face sunburnt and along with suncream this hat will keep you protected!

Lastly we have this patterned Maxi, it's very cute and I couldn't help including it. I think it would be perfect for a day out with friends or on a date. I've paired it with some simple black strappy sandals, a black and gold bracelet and this lovely bright orange flower for the hair to jazz it up.

Hope this post was enjoyable and helpful for the upcoming heat and maxi dress season!

♡ Getting Ready for Summer ♡

It feels like Winter didn't last very long at all here in Perth but spring has sprung and it's been getting gradually hotter and hotter (if you exclude today being overcast). I am extremely pale, always have been and probably always will be. Most of the time I just sail through summer with my pasty complexion but this year I feel like trying to be a little browner.

However, I don't want to be using the sun and the process of getting sunburnt to do so. The number one reason for this is obviously skin cancer, and having worked as a student nurse and in hospitals for a while now and seen first hand how it's such a big (and dangerous!) problem- especially in Australia, makes me even more wary. Not only that but it can cause age spots, moles and wrinkles too!

Le Tan - Face Tan in Radiant Glow / Bio Oil / Olay Facial Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin/
Dove Summer Glow in Light to Medium

So, with winter gone and summer coming along quickly I've decided to kick my skin into gear. The colder months always cause me to deal with dry skin on my face and for my pale skin to become extra super pale so I've brought the above products to help deal with these issues.
Some of these products I've been trying for a while and others I've only just purchased. In the next few weeks I'll post some reviews letting you know how I've gotten on with them.

Do you do anything in particular when Summer is fast approaching to help your skin prepare? Let me know x

♡ Mens Fashion ♡

Hi Dolls!
Jason has been on a bit of a shopping spree lately, so here's a quick mens fashion post!

On top he's wearing a shirt from ASOS and a Jacket from Jack London.

On the bottom he's wearing Black Skinny Jeans from TopShop and some black suede shoes from Rodger David.

Hope you've enjoyed the post, whether you're a man wanting some new ideas or you're a lovely girlfriend exploring what the lovely man in your life might be interested in clothing wise. A special thanks to my lovely boyfriend Jason for letting me take some snaps of his clothing! Just wish I had my DSLR with me!

♡ Little Pieces I'm Loving ♡

Jason and I went down to the River by his house this afternoon, and I thought I'd get a few snaps to show. Mainly, the pretty river and what I was wearing. They're just taken with my phone, because I didn't have my DSLR with me.

The River is such a pretty place, and the nice cool breeze was lovely after having spent the day inside. It's officially springtime, and it's been reaching hotter heats than we've had in quite a while. On the weekend it even got to 29 degrees celcius! But today was a lovely 22 degrees.  I'm mostly a autumn and winter person, but the upcoming spring and summer is actually a little exciting. I'm looking forward to maxi dresses and skirts, and summer sandals.
On my face I'm wearing my Bourjois healthy mix foundation (which I'm almost out of! and it's a lot more expensive to buy here in Perth than in England) It's a lovely foundation that goes on smoothly and blends well, and is a nice light coverage but slightly buildable if need be. On my eyes is Maybeline line stiletto eyeliner, which I love! It is such an easy to use eyeliner and the colour pay off is wonderful. On my lashes i'm wearing Lancome Doll Eyes! And on my lips is a Clinique lipstick that has just been pressed on my lips. Unfortunately i've rubbed off the name, so I'm not sure what it's called.

Here is my jumper which I've been loving during this change in weather. It's not too warm that it makes me hot, but it's not too holey or light to let the cold in. It's perfect, especially for these afternoons and early evenings where the weather still gets a bit chilly. It was from Kmart, which I've surprisingly been finding lots of gems at lately, and it was on special for 10 dollars!

The maxi dress i'm wearing underneath it is a simple black one that my mum brought me back from Bali. But you can find them for reasonable prices in several different places, or even on The Bay (eBay:P) if you'd like.

My hair I've just been growing out to it's natural colour after a year of frantic dying! Hair Care post to come soon!

This is a piece I brought from louvisa jewellery, which at the moment is just in Australia. There are lovely pieces in there for reasonable prices if there is one near you, I'd check it out! They often have sales on, as well.

The shoes are just last years summer shoes from Target and this gives you a better look at the maxi dress.

Have a lovely day/night,

♡ Chicken and Avocado Wrap ♡

I just made the perfect lunch and I thought I'd share it on here for any of you foodies!

Basically, it's just a chicken and Avocado wrap with some cheese and I've toasted it.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken (already cooked)
  • half an Avocado, or just under half.
  • Wrap (i've used a wholegrain one, it's delicious!)
  • Cheese (I just used what I had in the fridge, some tasty cheese. You don't need a lot grate it and it will melt quicker and go further so you'll need less)
  • Mayonaise or some kind of sauce (this is optional, i've gone without because i've mushed my avocado to be kind of like a sauce. If you want a healthy sauce option maybe smother a little bit of hommus over on half of the wrap.)
  • Tomato (would go lovely in this, but we had none in the fridge :( )

On a quick side note, i've been loving avocados lately, they're super tasty and they're full of MUFAs(mono unsaturated fatty acids) which are fats that are good for you and help you burn your calories! They're good in lots of things, you can even make a smoothie out of them (i'm yet to try it, but when I do i'll let you know how it goes!)

Once you've got your ingredients together spread the avocado over one half (like a semi circle) leaving about a one or two centimetre gap before the end of the wrap. then add your chicken pieces over the avocado, and then sprinkle the cheese. fold your wrap in half and put it in your sandwich grill (or whatever you use to make toasted sandwiches) You could also put it under the grill if you wanted, but it wont come out toasted on both sides.
Then you leave it for however long it takes for the cheese to melt and  for it to get warm on the inside.

Then it's ready and will look a little something like this:
Yum! on the inside it will go goopy and melty with the cheese and avocado making the chicken taste extra nice.

I hope you guys get some use out of this, perhaps you've never thought to include avocado into a toasted wrap like this. And if you have, do you have any other good recipe ideas for wraps like this? what are your favourite fillings?

♡ Impressed by press on nails ♡

Hi Dolls!

Does anyone else really love nail polish and nail art but sometimes doing it yourself if a real hassle or too time consuming? And not everyone can afford to spend upwards of $45 on getting them professionally done.

A few weeks back I was in Priceline and I found the imPress Press and Go nails! I figured I might as well give them a go and see how well they last. On the box it said that they would be good to last for 7 days. Now, I remember when I was little and I was given little press on nails and they lasted a good day or two before one or two fell off.

These are not like that at all! They lasted the whole 7 days on my nails, and I was the one who ended up having to take them off for a shift I had at work. I believe they could have lasted on my nails a few more days at least before one or two would have fallen off.

The ones I tried out were super cute, and are called TGIF! Adorable!

They're super easy to put on, and easy to take off. So it's a lot quicker then having to paint a base coat, then the colour, then the top coat. And that's without even thinking about putting some detailing on them! So if you are able to wear them for the 7 days without actually needing to take them off they are brilliant.

For around about 14 dollars a pack (and they're often on sale, too!) you get 24 nails so you'll get 2 uses from them and at least 7 days wear each if you apply them correctly.

I know that in america they have a wider range of colours and patterns as they do here in Australia, and they might be a bit cheaper there too. But i'm happy enough with these ones for the moment.

Hope these come in handy for some of you!

♡ Welcome! ♡

Hey Dolls,

My name is Sammie and this is my new blog!

On here will be a selection of things, mostly including but not limited to:
  • make up, hair care and skin care reviews and hauls
  • ramblings and reviews of books i'm reading
  • out fit posts and ideas
  • some photo blogs, if i've been out and taken any photographs lately
This blog will mostly focus around beauty and make up, but I am reading a lot lately and I am currently writing a novel so there will be some inclusion from bookworld!

If you want to know a little about me, read on!

I'm a 20 year old living in Perth, Australia.

This is my face. Hello people! Er, yes, anyway. I like cats and cups of tea. I like make up and beauty products a little too much. My hair has been many a colour over the years, but it's back to brown for me now as it's been chemically treated too many times and it needs a little R&R.

I like to read, and I like to write. I was studying Nursing at university but it wasn't for me, so i've lately just been working and writing and working and writing and spending my money on make up.

So, that's a little about me.

♡ Bye
